April.29.2002 We went hiking to Kogesawa scenery forest, where are planted various saplings by hands of volunteers of "Takao no Morizukurinokai " 2002 anniversary tree- planting ceremony was held 2 weeks ago my wife and my daughters took part in the ceremony. And they planted tiny saplings of Yama-zakura. So we went to see saplings to Kogesawa.again today. I was very tired because the slope is very steep and I am fat. The saplings of Japanese maples, Yama-zakura, Japanese Judus trees and other saplings of broad-leaf trees are lively growing there. We felt easy. P.S. There are notice boards, Yamame fishing is prohibited at Kogesawa. We are very glad to see tiny and a few Kogesawa-yamame. We love Kogesawa-yamame too. |

02/28/2002 Corrected text. Story of an area Fishing Master and a female Grey Heron ![]() I have seen a Gray Heron staying on top of a tall tree, near a fishing area where I often go. At this place she is usually after Rainbow Trout. And when the fisherman have all left the area she fly's off to hunt strolling trout , on the surface of the water. Though the Master chases the heron every time, it is always in vain.. She is very tricky. She never comes near the side of the Master. One day the heron came near the side of the Master. She was putting her head a little to the side, and sticking her face toward him. Her behavior was different. She usually ran away from the Master, as if jeering at him. But that day she came near him raising her face and repeatedly giving him sidelong glances. The Master saw she had a minnow in her beak but when she put her head a little to one side, he could see that it was a lure not a minnow. The Master knew she was trying to tell him she needed his help. He knew what he had to do. Since the Gray Heron's sharp beak could be very dangerous, the Master thought he would put a net on her. Strangely enough the heron kept calm in the net. The minnow she bit turned out to be a minnow shaped lure. When she realized what had happened it was too late. One hook was stuck in her beak and as she shook her head, another hook became stuck in her neck. She remained still while the Master removed each hook. He then released her and she slowly flew away. I don't know whether she thanked the Master but I was impressed by her human-like behavior. Someday she will repay her obligation to the Master. Anglers must take notice of what is going on around them and at all times be considerate of all Natures creatures. Great thanks Bob-san. |
This is my broken English text, I understood this is funny English. 02/24/2002 Story of a fishing area master and a female gray heron I have seen a grey heron staying on the top of tall tree near a fishing area where I go often. At the place she is usually aiming at rainbow trouts and when fishermen all have left the area she fly to hunt strolling trouts on the surface of water. Though a master repeats to chase the heron it becomes in vain every time. She is very tricky. She never comes near side of a master. One day putting her head a little to one side, the heron came near side of a master just like sticking her face towards him. Her behavior was not as usual. She usually run away from a master as if jeering at him. But that day she came near to him raising her face and giving him sidelong glance repeatedly. The master knew that a minnow was bitten in her beak and she putted her head a little to one side. Carefully looking at it, he found not a minnow but a lure. "Please remove this from me, please", (she never said so,) The master understood her situation., and he went to get a big net. Since grey heron has a sharp beak and is the offensive bird, if anyone think to catch, it is dangerous. So The master thought to put a net on her. However, strange to say, she was keeping still in net without rioting at all. The situation is probably below, She had found a minnow and bitten it but it was a lure of minnow-shape. When she knew all it was too late. As one hook was stuck in her beak she shook her neck. Then another hook was stuck on her neck. Then a master removed hooks of lure from her one by one and released her. While it she was still and slowly flew off. I don't know whether she said thanks for the master.. I was impressed by her human like behavior. The master will be repaid an obligation from her, grey heron some day. Anglers must consider the nature around oneself. ![]() J.M.Dent & Sons Ltd 1988 ISBN 0-460-04745-0 Robin Armstrong |

May How is this mark colored? ![]() Once upon a time the Goddess created mountains, forests, streams, at first. She colored green in them. Next she made creature such as birds, animals, and fishes there. She had forgotten to color in them. So they asked for her to be colored. Feeling sorry she gave them blue, red, white color. All of creature were very pleased. Especially one tiny fish said thanks a lot. Smilingly the Goddess held tiny fish gently in her palm and brought back into the stream gently again. Since then the tiny fish became to wear some marks on both side of the body. Strange to say the mark was the same with a color of fingers of the Goddess. Do you know why? Because it is the fingerprint of the Goddess. The mark is called Parr mark but I don't know the reason. I made this story for my daughter Yume 5 years old. ![]() |
